I participated in my first meeting with the agents of Bookends. We will be having a meeting every Friday morning at 9:30 to discuss any new items that came up during the week. These items include deals that the agents have made, as well as what different editors and publishers are doing. It's good to keep tabs on the people we do business with.
I was given the assigment to read a manuscript by an author hoping to get her book represented by Bookends. My exact directions were, "Read asap. If it's FABULOUS, write up a report. Otherwise reject." I'm glad I like the book so far because I would feel really bad rejecting it. I guess that is something I have to get used to though.
I have the power to say 'yes' or 'no' to authors, which is kind of scary. It is pretty cool at the same time though. I have an opinion, and it feels good that it counts.
