I definitely do a lot of reading at my job, which is awesome. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies. Many manuscripts that I read are fabulous while others are not so great. This internship is really giving me an opportunity to see different writing styles and learn what agents and publishers are looking for. As a writer, hearing what the agents have to say about other people's work is useful advice for me.
I was thrilled when a full manuscript came in for a book that I told the agent I really liked. Not only do I give my opinions, but she actually takes my opionions to heart. Another internship that I had rarely kept me busy, and I sometimes felt out of place and unwanted. Working for a literary agency is definitely a great experience.
